No approach for Ashton

Football365.com reported that Dean Ashton was subject of a £2million bid by Crystal Palace, with the Guardian following it up with reports of a £1.5million. Meanwile, yesterday saw London Teletext report Dean Ashton was spotted at Selhurst Park but all the speculation has been rebuffed by Crewe.

A Crewe Alexandra spokesperson said; "We have had no formal approach or offer for him."

Is it smoke without fire? Or is it only a matter of time before one of the big boys storms in with a cheque book? Time will tell.
