26-year-old Elejiko recently had a trial with League Two outfit Gillingham but felt that he could play high up the English ladder.

Former Royal Antwerp defender Elejoko has arrived at Crewe and will be hoping to impress the Crewe management team and earn a contract.

Holland told the official site "We have Bobsam here with us and we will have a look at him over the next week. He has recently been at Gillingham and we are led to believe that they were willing to offer him something. The lad wants to play at a level higher, so we'll see how he gets on. He would come here on a free transfer if we feel he could improve us."

"I've stated all summer that we could do with another defender. Six is not really enough to get through an entire season, so we have been looking to strengthen in that area, especially at centre-half."

"We've had a Portuguese and a French centre-half in and I watched a player last week play for Tottenham's reserves, but he went to Norwich on a season loan instead. You can understand them wanting to go to the Championship and it was the same with Cathcart from Manchester United, who has moved to Plymouth on loan."
