Crewe wrapped up their pre-season with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the Lyme Valley Stadium. With Rodney Jack making an apperance in a Crewe shirt for over three years and Pavol Suhaj leading the line it was Newcastle who sealed the match with a penalty during the first half.
