Farquharson scored in the 38th minute and it was his first goal of the pre-season he also had a header cleared off the line earlier as a goal mouth scamble nearly resulted in a goal. Farquharson also hit the post in the second half as Newcastle rarely troubled Fon Williams.
Patrick Suffo lasted around 70 mins and did not really impress in the very wet conditions and was replaced by Junior Brown but the biggest talking point of the night was the foul weather that made conditions some what slippery under foot.
