Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of Biddulph Victoria striker Tom Pope. As previously reported on CreweMad, the striker has caught the attention of Crewe following his good start to the season in which he has scored 12 goals. Pope had been playing in the same division which Luke Varney played in. The 20-year old striker has previously had a spell with Crewe's academy as a school boy, but wasn't retained and tried to begin a career in the non-league.

The 6'3 forward said, "One of the main reasons I came here was the track record the club has in developing young players and non-league players. Dario and Neil have a fantasy record of giving young players a chance."

Pope has been signed on a nominal fee although is not expected to challenge for a first team place and will be made available for loan once the club has had a chance to assess him over the coming weeks.
