Colin Murdock has rejected his contract offer at Crewe and has instead opted to join Rotherham on a two-year deal. The defender ended up looking slightly stupid after some absurd U-turns.
Murdock initially rejected the club's one-year offer and stated that under no circumstances would he sign a one-year contract on the terms being offered. However, as time went on Murdock began to weaken his stance as no other clubs came in for the Northern Ireland international. After elongated talks on Wednesday and Thursday, the club altered their offer and included an option of an extra year. However, Murdock then decided that he actually didn't want a two-year deal and instead asked the club to revert to their original offer. The club, who were somewhat confused by the U-turn, obliged and Murdock verbally accepted. However, news of interest from Rotherham arose and Murdock decided that the lure of a two-year deal at Rotherham with more money was too great to decline and off he went although no official announcement has been made yet by the Milmoor club.
Alex fans are unlikely to be overly upset by the news as Murdock's severe lack of pace would have been highlighted by opposition teams scouts as a weakness to exploit.
