26-year-old Darren Moss has rejected a new contract with the club. It is understood that Moss would have been taking a pay cut as his previous contract was signed when Crewe where in the Championship.
The £170k signing from Shrewsbury joined the Railwaymen back in March 2005 and has a torrid time with injury wiping out at least 5 months of his season but the former Wales U-21 international has come strong in recent weeks and has also weighed in with some valuable goals.
Only this week Moss went on record saying he wanted to stay and the club and that he was surprised that he got an offer from the Crewe management.
Moss will now be able to leave on a Bosman and one club who is watching things closely are his former club Shrewsbury Town who are in the play-offs and are challenging for a League One spot next season.
