More new faces to come?

Having secured the return of Mark Rivers three years after selling him to Norwich, the Alex may not be finished just yet after two of Gradi's long term targets were made available for loan.

Highly-rated Liverpool duo Jon Welsh (midfield) and Jon Otsemobor (right back) were left at home by new boss Rafa Benitez for the Red's tour of the USA, opening the door for a possible loan spell at Gresty Road.

Gradi has long admired the two youngsters and reports over the past eighteen months suggest he has tried to bring both to South Cheshire on more than one occasion. Gradi recently spoke of his hope for a renewed relationship with Benitez's Liverpool following years of a so called "alliance" between the two clubs, and the loss of Wright and Brammer could see us making a move.

Also, reports of Cardiff's Gareth Whalley making a return to the Alex six years since he left for Bradford City refuse to go away. Whalley, who spent a spell on loan at Crewe in 2002, has been at loggerheads with Bluebirds supremo Sam Hammam for months regarding unpaid bonuses.
