Millers snap up Pope.

23-year-old Pope sealed his move to South Yorkshire after both clubs had agreed earlier a fee excess of £150k for the former non-league striker.

Pope's signing for the Millers equals their record transfer fee paid for a player at the club with previous players Lee Glover, Alan Lee, Tony Towner and Martin Butler all signing for £150k over recent years.

Pope travelled upto the Don Valley Stadium this afternoon to undergo a medical and accepted terms with the Millers and agreed to a 3-year-deal.

Pope signed for the Alex back in 2006 for a nominal fee from Biddulph Victoria after being spotted by Neil Baker.

Pope did not break into the first team straight away and had to wait until March 2007 to make his debut where came on as a sub in the 1-0 away defeat at Gilligham. Pope went on to make 3 more appearances that season.

Pope's first league goal came in the 2007-08 season in the 1-1 away draw at Bristol Rovers and Pope's last goal for the club was a brace in the 3-2 home defeat against Leeds United.

Sneyd Green born Pope made 56 appearances netting 17 goals with last season being his most productive as he netted 9 goals in 33 appearances.

The clubs chief operating officer Paul Douglas told themillers.co.uk; "Tom has agreed terms on a deal with us today and we are looking forward to seeing him action when pre-season starts next month,"
