Rix, who made his first-team debut in the 1-0 Coventry City defeat at Highfield Road in November 2001 as a second half substitute for Rodney Jack, is signing a new and improved contract which will see him elevated to an equal financial footing with Welsh whizzkid David Vaughan until summer 2007.
He joins Richard Walker, Neil Sorvel, Steve Foster, Steve Jones, Dean Ashton, James Robinson and Stuart Tomlinson in pledging his future to the club.
Rix has been in scintillating form this season and has given Dario Gradi a major midfield headache with David Vaughan looking to fit in on the left wing following the £125k signing of Anthony Tonkin from Stockport.
"It’s very pleasing that the staff have the faith in me to offer me a new contract. I am happy to sign", said Rix.
