Mellor Transfer In Doubt?

It is believed Gerard Houllier was relieved of his duties on Sunday with a official announcement coming on Monday and his sacking from Liverpool could have knock-on effects.

Gerard Houllier agreed to allow Neil Mellor to sign for Crewe on a season long loan but with a new manager it could halt the loan signing for Crewe. Charlton's Alan Curbishley and Valencia's Rafael Benitez are the two main men in the running for the job with Jose Mourinho from Porto also expected to show interest.

Crewe will have to hope that the new manager sees it right to loan Mellor out and turn away any other last minute bids for the 21 year old to honour the agreement between the two clubs.
