20-year-old Nicky Maynard is aiming high for the forthcoming season and one objective is to break the 20-goal barrier as the Railwaymen look for promotion.
Maynard netted his second goal of the pre-season with an excellent goal in Crewe's 3-1 over Cheshire rivals Stockport County.
Maynard told the Sentinal newspaper "Obviously the target is to do at least as well as last season. They all say the second season is the toughest, but I'm hoping I can change that and reach 20 goals-plus."
He said: "The players worked hard in pre-season and we've looked fitter than we have in previous seasons.
"Although it was a tough game against Stockport, we stuck at it - we know we're capable of scoring goals.
"Before the game, (first-team coach) Steve Holland told me to link up with Shaun like I did with Luke. It might not click straight away, but obviously the more you play together, the more it will click."
