Davey told the Tykes official site "I'm devastated to have not won that game," he said, "We had the chances to win it three times over but if you don't take your chances that is what happens.

"I've got not dispute with the penalties. I am very disappointed and to go out at this round is a disaster for us.

"We didn't play well in the first half. In the second half there was only one team in it but the damage was done in the first half.

"I picked a side tonight to win the game but this has got to be put behind us. A lot of fans came down and I feel sorry for all them as well".

Crewe boss Steve Holland was more than pleased with his sides effort as the progressed to the second round of the cup.

Holland to the official site "We were rubbish in the cups last year and did nothing.

"The revenue is helpful, the supporters want to see their team in the cup, so we will be taking all cup games seriously.

"The players were all really down after losing on Saturday and they started the game as though they were determined to do something about it.

"We had to defend but we did it with a fair amount of spirit and a decent amount of organisation.

"We are all sick of looking at Crewe Alex near the bottom of the league, we had it all last season and after Saturday we are down there again.

"I am already cheesed off with it. I want to get out of that as soon as possible and tonight should be a real fillip for the chaps and if we could win at Carlisle that would be a start."
