Sodje was told he was free to leave Crewe last month after falling out of favour in the Crewe squad. It immedietly caught the attention of his former club, Macclesfield and they didn't wait to talk to Sodje.

Dave Moss, MTFC manager, and Rob Bickerton, MTFC Chairman, last spoke to Sodj' 2 weeks ago and Macclesfield say it's all down to Sodje.

Speaking to MTFC.co.uk Rob Bickerton said: "A couple of weeks ago, David Moss asked Dario Gradi for permission to speak with Efe Sodje and I had a long conversation with him. We talked about what he was looking for and what we were looking for and the ball is very much in his court to come back to us if what we had to say interested him. "

Sodje could be the fourth Alex player to join Macclesfield in 12 months, following Steve Macauley, John Miles and Colin Little.
