Steve Macauley's contract ran out in his testimonial year in the summer and after Macclesfield saying they'll be signing him and Bury saying they'll be signing him - non of them did and while he trained with Bury Rochdale took their chance and took a swoop for the 33 year old.

Macauley had stayed with Crewe for 10 years and will be back at Gresty Road early next season when he plays with Shaun Smith(Also left for Hull) in their testimonial games against Liverpool. Macauley played over 300 league games under Dario despite making his league debut at a fairly old age of 22.
