Lunt Stays

Dario Gradi has admitted that he is "genuinely surprised" that no bids have been made for his captain Kenny Lunt. Dario, who has set a Thursday deadline for all contractual decisions, also confirmed, "there have been a few enquiries but no firm offers." It is likely that most of the Crewe faithful will be somewhat less surprised that no club has met £500,000 asking price with details of the Lunt saga previously revealed on Crewe Mad (http://www.crewealexandra-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=227041).

It now appears that Lunt will be staying with the club although he must confirm this sometime this week if he wishes to go on the pre-season tour to Portugal. Whilst 'King Kenny' endured a lacklustre season in the previous campaign, it is hoped that he will knuckle down and show us more of the good form he has demonstrated in previous seasons.

The news comes as a blow to young midfielders such as Ben Rix and Gary Roberts who may well be forced to wait longer for their change to shine.
