Madjid Bougherra's agent has claimed that Premiership clubs are in the hunt for the on-loan Crewe defender.

The 23-year-old Algerian International arrived at Gresty Road in January from French outfit FC Gueugnon. Madjid has made 10 appearances so far and in the process scored one goal. That coming against a 4-1 win over Coventry City last month.

Bougherra has a year left on his contract with the French club but his agent, Charles Collymore, believes the player's future could lie in England - and possibly The Premiership.

“There is a lot of interest in Madjid, “claims Collymore "Three Premiership clubs have expressed an interest as well as a number of Championship clubs”

In recent weeks there have been plenty of scouts from The Premiership and The Championship casting their eyes over the loan defender. Even Hertha Berlin of the German Bundesliga have sent a representative out to watch him and with a few players plying their trade in the German league a move would not be ruled out.

Meanwhile Manager Dario Gradi said: “I've spoken to Madjid and told him we'd sign him if things could be sorted out with his club in France, and he's hoping to speak to them next week so we'll see what happens then”
