Leyton Orient have joined the race to sign Luke Rodgers after manager Martin Ling confirmed at the O's supporters meeting that he had made a bid for the former Shrewsbury Town striker.

It seems that the east London club have matched Crewe's asking price of £30k and now again it is up to the player to decide whether to make the journey south. Rodgers has already turned down Hereford United, Accrington Stanley and Swindon Town as the players make his desire to stay in League One.

25-year-old Rodgers could join the London club or hold out for another League One club and the player did his chance's no harm by grabbing a hat trick against Port Vale reserves as Crewe eased to a 4-2 win.

It does seem though that Orient may have a challenge from two other potential League One clubs, Chesterfield have been rumoured to be interested dependent on the sale of Caleb Forlan.
Also Port Vale have been mentioned as well and Rodgers could be earmarked as a replacement if Leon Constantine leaves for pasture new.
