League One rivals could tempt Johnson away.

It seems that League One rivals Oldham Athletic could turn their attention to Eddie Johnson as they look to build a team for promotion next season. Latics boss Ronnie Moore has already expressed his interest in Gareth Taylor who has only been offered a one-year contract at Gresty Road. It seems that Oldham could offer a two-year deal for the former Notts Forest striker/defender.

Oldham have already agreed a fee of £85k for Sheffield United striker Luke Beckett but it seems that wages will be a stumbling block for the former Chester City hitman. So a cheaper alternative for Ronnie Moore could be Eddie Johnson who has just been released by Man Utd. 21 year-old and Chester born Johnson made 16 apperances and 6 as sub scoring 5 goals in the process for Crewe. His contribution persuaded boss Dario Gradi to offer him a two-year deal at Gresty Road after spending last season on loan at the Alex.
