The Alex boss has already secured the services of Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Williams and Mansfield Town striker Andy White.
Gradi has now lined up another arrival and has had talks with an unnamed attacking midfielder about a switch to Gresty Road.
Gradi said: 'We're always looking to see if there's somebody out there that is a bargain who could improve us and is within our price range in terms of wages.
'We've got somebody in mind and I've spoken to him. He is on a Bosman so he is free to do as he pleases, but we would have to arrange a fee or go to a tribunal if he decided he'd like to sign for us because of his age.
'I've made arrangements to speak to him in a couple of days so we should know where we're going with that by the end of the week.'
