Briggs is described as a 'pacey right-back with good distribution', and will fill in for former Stockport team mate Anthony Tonkin and play at right back, behind former Norwich team mate Mark Rivers.
He's expected to go straight into the side against Cardiff but at right back, with Billy Jones filling the left back spot.
