The outcome of the Billy Jones tribunal has ended with the Lillywhites having to pay in instalments.

Preston have already handed £200k for the player which the football league feels it should pay a further £50k now with a further £250k in the new year.
So with the Lillywhites expecting to pay an initial £500k for the player the rest of the money will be based on appearances with the Railwaymen set to net £62,500 after the player has made 15, 30, 45 and 60 first team appearances taking it to £750k.

If Preston North End where to get promoted to the Premiership while Jones is still at the club then Crewe will net a further £250k so all in all the deal could be worth £1m.
The football league also said that any further sale of Billy Jones would also have a 20% sell on fee to the Railwaymen.

Jones has yet to feature in the league for North End although he did play in their 2-0 defeat to Morcambe in the Carling Cup.

Is it a good deal for the club, let us know your views on the messageboard.
