Since Billy Jones moved to Deepdale more that five weeks ago both Crewe and Preston are still miles apart with the value of the versatile player.

So far the Crewe board have rejected two offers, Preston's offered £400k to start off with but that was rejected then they then upped it to £500k but that too has been rejected.

The Railwaymen are holding out for a package woth £1m with at least £600k up front and the rest based on appearances for the Championship club.

Derek Shaw told the Lancashire Evening Post "We are awaiting a date from the league for a tribunal to be held. We've had two efforts at agreeing a fee but Crewe and ourselves are still apart, so it looks like a panel will be needed.

"We feel we have made a decent offer and let's hope the tribunal will see it that way when they get together."
