In a surprising turn of events, interest has developed in Crewe's on loan striker Eddie Johnson. Hull city today agreed a fee with Johnson's employers Manchester United leading to talks between Johnson and the Tigers. However, in a bizarre series of events it now appears that Johnson has rejected Hull and instead decided to remain at Crewe. The reasons for Johnson apparently rejecting Hull are unknown though it appears the striker feels he stands a better chance of first team football at Crewe than at Hull. The hard-working striker would have been able to join the Tigers immediately due to a clause in the loan contract stating he can leave should a permanent deal arise elsewhere.
It is also rumoured that Lincoln's Gareth McAuley has turned down the Alex though this is as yet unconfirmed. McAuley has been attracting the interest of other clubs such as Doncaster and Leicester and with Crewe's wages unlikely to be overly-enticing, McAuley may have decided to hold out for a bigger move.
