Jewell: "It'll be tough"

Paul Jewell's Wigan Athletic today lost influential striker Geoff Horsfield to West Bromwich Albion with the former Birmingham man hoping for a return to Premiership football next season.

The exit of 'The Horse' leaves the Latics with a depleted forward line, and the ex-Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday boss conceeded that despite the huge gulf in resources, Crewe will give them a tough game tomorrow at Gresty Road.

"It'll be another tough game, we know that. Crewe are lucky in that they can play without fear because the expectations upon their players are unlike those that you find at other clubs, and they always try to play good football.

"It should be an entertaining afternoon but I just hope we'll have enough to pick up the points to start the important Christmas programme off with confidence boosting victory.”
