It seems that a day does not pass with a Crewe player linked with a move during the forthcoming January transfer window.
With Billy Jones refusing a new and improved contract, Jones has been placed on the transfer list. A few clubs have been linked with the U-20 England International, Manchester City have been heavily linked with Stuart Pearce having had him watched on numerous occasions. Championship side Cardiff City have also been linked in recent weeks and with a cash injection at the club they maybe able to entice Jones to South Wales. Another team also linked with Jones is Bolton Wanderers who like the other may offer £750k-£1M.
David Vaughan is another that has been linked to various clubs in recent weeks, same again in recent days Cardiff City have been linked with the Welsh International but it seems they may have competition with Blackburn Rovers and now Ipswich Town also throwing their hat into the ring. Although Vaughan is contracted to 2008 a fee in the region of £750k may sway the board to sell.
Luke Varney is the next to have been linked in the last week with Premiership teams watching his progress. Varney who is enjoying a good run in the first team has scored 6 times this season and has had scouts purring over his displays. Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Championship side Southampton have been linked with the former Quorn player. Even though he has been linked the coaching staff feel he still has loads to offer at the club and only recently signed an extension at the club, which ties him down to 2009.
