The Alex are looking to secure a deal for Forest Green Rovers hotshot Stuart Fleetwood before the day is out. It is believed that an improved offer of around £200k has been offered with some extras to woo the Rovers board.
Forest Green have already turned down bids from neighbours Cheltenham Town and Gillingham and were looking to hold out for £250k with QPR and Charlton Athletic watching things closely.
Meanwhile the Railwaymen are still awaiting for a response from Bury after a bid of around £200k was offered for Andy Bishop, but with Bury progressing through to the next round of the FA Cup the Shakers may want to hold on to their prized asset for the time being.
First team coach Steve Holland told the Stoke Sentinel "We have spoken to Forest Green about Fleetwood. They were in contact yesterday and we have discussed making a slight adjustment to the deal"
"We are expecting them to let us know, but I have learned not to take anything for granted."
