I wouldn't want to go to Palace, says Dario

Dario isn't one to ramble on and trying to take pot shots at other teams but when he does, he always has a good reason. His former club from 22 years ago are now in dire straits. Languishing just above the relegation zone they've been through 16 managers since Dario was sacked 22 years ago. That also included 3 attempts by, now Reading manager, Steve Coppell. The main reason is down to Chairman Simon Jordon who demands nothing less than promotion to the premiership, and that's where Dario see's the problem.

"It will be interesting to see who Jordan gets. Whoever goes for the Palace job has got to be desperate, it's not an attractive job, is it?

"The only incentive would be that a new manager thought he would get promotion with those players. Maybe the players are good enough, I don't know. But I wouldn't want to leave Crewe to go to Palace. He (Jordan) wouldn't want me to go there anyway. He would probably say you have already been there once and failed."

With Kit Symons in the caretaker role Dario also thinks that converting from a player to a successful manager over night is rare...

"I think if you take an ex-player like Dennis Wise, obviously he knows the game and thinks he's management material. But you are lucky when they go straight into being successful.

"I don't think it's a good idea for Dennis either. George Graham is a good example - he was a youth coach for five years at Palace then manager at Millwall and Arsenal. When he went to Arsenal he was equipped to do the job."
