Falkirk who spent a second season in the SPL finished mid table on 50pts and look to improve on that next season. If picked Higdon could make his debut away to SPL newcomers Gretna then the week after Falkirk entertain Celtic.
Higdon who had been at Gresty Road for 10 years rejected a new two year deal to remain at Crewe and had been linked with League One rivals Gillingham.
Other clubs had been linked with big striker but the player now feels his future now lies at Falkirk Stadium.
Higdon had not returned to Crewe for pre-season and had informed Crewe boss Dario Gradi that he would not be coming back as he looked for pastures new.
According to the official Falkirk website, Higdon had been up in Falkirk over Tuesday and Wednesday and passed a medical before agreeing to a deal which will see him officially join the squad on 1st July and don the number 11 shirt.
Falkirk manager John Hughes had to conclude the deal while on holiday, he told the official Falkirk website "I'm delighted we've aquired his services. We've tracked his progress over the last year and the lad has impressed us on numerous occasions we've watched him. Falkirk have been missing a strong prescence up front and Michael will give us that option now. His character is good as well a confident and lively lad who I'm sure will settle quickly with us."
"Dario Gradi has been his mentor and Michael will have learned a lot as the former Crewe boss likes to play the same style of football as we do at Falkirk."
Higdon told the Falkirk website, "I'm thrilled to move to an SPL club. Falkirk were one of my options I had but was overwhelmed by the ambition shown by the people there and that convinced me it was the right place to go."
