He won the CreweAlex.com Man of the Match vote by a long margin, won praise from Dario and Baker and even Watford manager Ray Lewington was impressed but as ever 17 year old Billy Jones was modest in victory.
He spoke to givemefootball.com;
"I knew before the game that everyone saw him as the main danger man. It was obviously a challenge for me and I really enjoyed it. I like to man-mark anyway so Dario basically said stay with Webber and I did, and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and the day.
"To be honest I doubt Danny Webber even knows who I am. I just happened to be playing against him and proving myself against him.
"That was one of my better performances and it was good to finish the game off with a good challenge on Danny because five minutes earlier they got a cross in and he should have scored. That would have been my fault so that clearance cancelled out my mistake. "
On paper though, the match winner was Neil Sorvel. Sorvs scored his first goal in 18 months with his shin before scoring again with a fluffed volley. Billy doesn't mind though;
"He's a bit embarrassed in there saying it's the worst brace ever. But, at the end of the day, we needed goals and he gave us them and they led to the points which we also needed, so he's happy, deep down."
Meanwhile, Watford manager Ray Lewington also spoke to givemefootball.com. He was impressed with the way Billy handled his goal scorer;
"Yes, very good. It's nice to see the young footballers play. Danny has been tremendous for us this year and the Crewe player has done very well against him. Crewe have always had good youngsters, that's what Dario does best. It was interesting but we are a bit more than just one player and we lost, as a team not as individuals. But we will bounce back I am convinced of that. "
