Gradi: Tactics Didn't Work

The Alex boss decided to start the game with striker Steve Jones playing just off the two main strikers but admitted that the plan had caused his side more problems than what the visitors did.

"It was a hard game, made a bit harder to begin with by my gamble with the tactics," he said after the draw at Gresty Road.

"We thought we might get something that we didn't get and it didn't work. I changed it before it was too late and in that way we were more of a threat.

"Our system was causing us more problems than it was causing them but we changed to a 4-3-3."
