Dario Gradi has revealed that Stoke City boss Tony Pulis verbally enquired about Billy Jones during the January transfer window but failed to match the Railwaymen's valuation.
Dario told the official website: "Stoke made an enquiry about Billy in January but their valuation didn't match our valuation of the player and we were not particularly interested in selling him during the transfer window, because we were not safe in League One anyway.
"We discussed it at board level and have decided on the type of fee we expect to get for him when it goes to the tribunal. Stoke are interested but there are a number of clubs watching him. Some of those are from Premiership clubs. It will be interesting to see what materialises when the season ends.
He added: "I really don't know where he is at. Maybe he has sorted things out already. You never quite know what is going on."
Jones who is out of contract during the summer after refusing to sign a new improved contract will still cost any club because of his age.
Gradi did reveal at the AGM that he was in dialogue with an unnamed team and was trying to sort a deal without having a messy tribunal. 20-year-old Jones made his debut back in October 2003 and has made over 100 appearances for the Railwaymen, in recent months Jones has attracted attention from various clubs from Manchester City to Everton as well as a few clubs from the Championship.
