Burnell started his career with Chesham United in 2005-06 and then had short spells at Maidenhead United and Beaconsfield before returning in 2006-07.

Burnell netted 27 goals last season in the Midland Division and shared the Golden Boot for his tally.

Already this season he netted 27 times in 30 games and with his goal scoring exploits has not gone unnoticed and no doubt will be looking to impress the Crewe management team.

Chesham United manager Andy Leese told Chesham's official website "I am pleased to say that Danny Burnell will be going to Crewe Alexandra FC next week, to spend the week training with them. He has really developed his game this season, and deserves the chance to see if he can progress further. We will be without him for a couple of games, but we have always said we will not stand in the way of any player who has the chance to progress. I know Dan will represent both himself and the club well next week. It will be a testing week for him, but also a great opportunity. We hope to have Dan back in the squad for the Atherstone game."
