Garratt made his full debut in the final game of last season against Walsall in which the whole team was made up of an Academy XI a first for any league club.

Manager Steve Davis has been impressed by Garratt in recent weeks with some excellent saves including a penalty saves against MK Dons and looks set to be offered a new contract after only signing an improved two and half year deal back in January 2013.

The Shrewsbury born shot stopper has come through the ranks and signed professional forms when he was 17 and with that has played for England’s U17’s, U18’s and U19’s, at the beginning of the season Garratt was only third choice of keeper but with Alan Martin leaving and at the time Steve Phillips injured the youngster stepped in and took his chance to impress.

Davis told the official club website: “Ben has a bright future in the game and will be a big part of the plans here over the next few years. He will be rewarded for his efforts and has had a fantastic spell for us.”
