Game Of The Season....

Last updated : 07 June 2003 By Site Staff
What a way to play out last game at Maine Road. Within 60 seconds Rodney Jack hit the back of the net after he rebounded Hulse's 30 yard screamer into the back of the net. The Alex held Man City for an hour, with players like Anelka and Berkovic up against us. It wasn't to be as Berkovic hit a 30 yard screamer into the bottom left. It then seemed over when a Berkovic shot deflected off Walker and over Ince's head into the net on the 84th minute. The never say die attitude of some player was there though as a brilliant run from Jones down the left saw him split open a City defence and square to Hulse for him to knock in... 2-2 on the 87th miniute. But before you could even sit down again Wright-Phillips raced down the right crossed to Huckerby who just hit and hope from the edge of the area and it paid off 3-2...

It was a match that alot will remember for a long time it was also a match that got 30% of your votes for "Match of the season". It was a clear winner, but second place was close. In 2nd place though was our world class display, ok maybe over the top, at Luton when we hit them for four. 3rd was a all important 3-1 away win at Oldham while 4th was promotion day at QPR. Not one single person voted for Bristol City away.

The new poll is Goal Of The Season...

Vaughan's the rising star!
Vaughany took over half the votes in the "Young player of the season" poll over the past week. 50.9% of the 100+ votes went to the Welsh wizard after a magnificent season where he spent a large chunk of it out of position at left back. The only other youngster to get over 10% was Chris McCready with 30% of the votes despite ending the season with a bad injury. Ashton came third, but his bad start to the season no doubt let him down.

You can now vote for the match of Crewe's season. Man City and our early start yet late finish do it? or QPR and the PROMOTION party do it for you? Choose wisely.(
Main Page)

Steve Jones Is The Most Improved Alex Player
With 38% of the votes, of which we had over 100, Steve Jones took the award without a challenge. In 2nd place Rob Hulse took 17% while Vaughan and Sorvel tied 3rd place with 12%. Bell, Ince and Walker were never in it. Jonah will no doubt be getting that bottle of champagne out as i type.

Who's the young player of the season? Vaughan with his Wales call ups? Or did Ashton's 16 goals do enough? Vote on the main page now.

Hulse is CreweAlex.com Player Of The Season

It's the only award that matters, honest!, and it is 27 goal man Rob Hulse who ran away with the award. After over 110 votes 36% of you voted for Hulsey as PLAYER OF THE SEASON. Coming in, not even close, at 2nd was David Vaughan who took a respectable 15%. Third place was Steve Foster who gained 1 more vote than Clayton Ince. So well done to Rob Hulse who, I'm sure, will be delighted.

Now vote for the CreweAlex.com Most Improved Player Of The Season on the main page.... currently leading is Steve Jones.

Over pre-season we'll be running weekly polls for the CreweAlex.com awards.

For now we're doing the all exclusive CreweAlex.com Awards. There will be 6 awards up for grabs over the weeks and all voted for by you, using the poll on the right.

Here are the awards...
