Full back out for two weeks

Crewe’s stand-in captain David Wright looks set to be sidelined for approximately two weeks after limping off after only ten minutes at the JJB Stadium on Saturday with a thigh strain. The Alex number 2 has been in exquisite form for the whole season, providing a calming influence on a Crewe side that has been ravaged by injuries for months.

Assistant boss Neil Baker: "It's a thigh strain which he's had for a little while but it hasn't been something that would stop him playing.

"But he has aggravated it so I would imagine that will be a couple of weeks without David."

The news comes as a major blow for Dario Gradi’s side with tough games against West Brom, West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke coming up in the next two weeks.

Wright’s replacement against the fancied Latics, Anthony Tonkin, will probably be recalled to left back for the game against the Baggies.
