Former Captain Falls To The Basement

Smith spent 10 years at Crewe before leaving on a free in 2002 to join Hull City in Division 3. He was a regular in the first team till Brian Little was sacked. When Peter Taylor took over at Hull Smith started to fall rapidly into the reserves.

Earlier this season Smith played 7 games for Stockport County onloan but then Carlton Palmer was sacked and today Smith goes out onloan to Carlisle. Carlisle sit bottom of Division Three with a seven point gap between them and 2nd bottom Southend.
