Shrewsbury Town's out of contract striker Luke Rodgers wants to join Crewe, according to his agent Mark Cartwright. Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to leave Shrewsbury and together with his agent, have often tried to fuel speculation linking the 5'6 striker with a move to the club. Cartwright stated, "Dario wants to have a good look at Luke" and as reported previously on CreweMad, Rodgers will begin a trial on Friday once the squad return from Portugal. Cartwright added, "He has a couple of other options but he genuinely does want to come and play for Crewe." The 'other options' referred to are believed to be Hibernian and Rotherham, whilst the contract offer at Shrewsbury is still on the table despite Rodgers rejecting it.
Juan Ugarte has also been speaking of his delight at signing for Crewe, "It's great to sign and I'm happy that everything has now been sorted out." Ugarte also said, "I'm really glad to be at the club and I can't wait to play some games now and play in the Championship next season." Following a dig at Dario by Mike Berry, Clayton Ince's agent, the Basque striker was quick to speak of his admiration for the Crewe boss, "I know all about Dario as well. People have told me what a great manager he is and how he likes to keep all the players together in a group. I am looking forward to working with him."
Crewe fans will no doubt be pleased to hear that there are players who are so keen to don the red of the Alex next season. This news comes after the revelation that Jon Otsemobor was also keen to join the club.
Whilst on the subject of the red of the Alex, as expected Diadora will make next season's kit with the home strip being unveiled on Friday 22nd July, and the away shirt due for release on Friday August 6th. However, the oh so well kept secret of who the sponsors will be remains a mystery.
