Crewe had already agreed a fee with League One rivals Leeds United for Elding back in June but the wanted to stay at Elland Road and fight for a first team place.
However Elding was left out of the pre-season tour of Ireland and now it seems the player has decided his future will lie elsewhere.
26-year-old Elding would cost the Railwaymen around £150k and could fuel even more talk of a possible departure of Nicky Maynard.
