26-year-old Elding who signed from Leeds United for a fee of £160k in the summer found himself down the pecking order when Gudjon Thordarson took over in January.
Elding looks set to make his last appearance for the Imps tonight as Lincoln City take on Chesterfield at Saltergate. Elding will return to the Alex on Wednesday and could yet feature for the Railwaymen over the busy Easter period.
Elding told the Stoke Sentinal 'My last game for Lincoln will be emotional as I've come back home and I've loved every minute of it,' 'It's just a shame I cannot stay until the end of the season, especially because the play-offs are in sight. But I definitely want to come back and, hopefully, the clubs can come to some arrangement.'
He added 'I've got two years left on my Crewe contract, but I've heard rumours they are willing to sell and that £75,000 would be enough.'
The forward, from nearby Boston, admits it'd be great to move back home.
'That would be a decent deal because I know, given a full pre-season behind me and the fact I will be back home, I will score goals.'
