Elding becomes the second player in over a week to have his contract terminated with Steve Collis already being paid up last week.

Elding arrived from Leeds United in the summer of 2008 for a fee in the region of £170k.

Although the move never really worked out as Elding on managed to net 3 times in 31 league and cup games.

This time last season Elding was loaned out to League Two side Lincoln City where he netted 3 goals in 15 games for the Imps. Upon his return to the club after his loan spell Elding put in workman like performaces but it was to no avail as the Railwaymen were relegated.

Ahead of the new season in League Two the former manager Gudjon Thordarson installed Elding as vice-captain mush to the suprise of the fans but it was not to last as Elding made his last appearance in a Crewe in the the 2-1 home defeat to Port Vale in October.

Just over two weeks later Elding was loaned out Blue Square Premiership side Kettering Town where he made 11 appearances for the Poppies scoring 4 times including a goal in the FA Cup against one of former clubs Leeds Unted.

Only over the weekend Elding was being linked with a move to Hungarian giants Ferencvaros who are managed by former Sheffield United and Everton defender Craig Short.

Elding told the offical club site 'I would like to thank everyone at Crewe Alexandra for everything they have done for me, the staff, the coaches, the fans, everyone. I wish them them all the luck for the rest of the season and beyond and thank them for bringing me here and giving me a chance to resurrect my career. Unfortunately, this is the way things go in football sometimes, but I am very grateful for everything that Crewe have done for me.'
