Crewe Mad understands that Brayford and Bailey were shown round Pride Park and the training ground where they had a medical yesterday afternoon.

Derby manager Nigel Clough has been after former Burton player Brayford for some time but it now seems he has got his man.

Brayford played for Clough when they were both at Burton Albion and it was Clough who sold Brayford to Crewe back in 2008 for a fee of £130k.

The versatile Brayford can play right back and ended the season at Crewe playing centre half he also ended the season as captain after he was given the armband at the away game to Burton Albion back in February.

Macclesfield born James Bailey will be joining Brayford at Pride Park and had been interesting Kevin Blackwell's Sheffield United but it seems Clough has moved swiftly. Clough sees Bailey as an ideal replacement for a former Crewe player Robbie Savage who is in the last year of his contract at Pride Park.
