Dean Ashton headed the young England side ahead in the 14th minute. Sweden's U-21s were the much better side but against the run of play England won a corner, the corner was hit to the far post for Steven Taylor to head back across the face of the goal where Dean Ashton just nodded it in.
It was Ashton's 2nd goal on his 2nd England U-21 game and the only goal of the first half, however, Per Nilsson hit back for Sweden on the 58th minute before substitute Andersson gave Sweden U-21s a deserved lead on the 70th minute.
The real super sub came from England, Newcastle's Michael Chopra scored in stoppage time to give David Platt a draw.
Ashton will report back to Crewe on Thursday, hopefully injury free and ready to play on Saturday at home to Rotherham.
