When Dario Gradi went into hospital during the last week of September, Crewe took only one point from four games under the leadership of Alex backroom staff Neil Baker and Steve Holland. The inspirational boss returned for the home clash with Derby County, and since then, the railwaymen have taken eight points from a possible 12.

Vice captain David Wright explained that the last four games have really brought about a sense of confidence in the Alex squad: "The morale and confidence in the dressing room is very high at the moment and we are just looking to extend our unbeaten run."

Looking ahead to tomorrows visit of Reading, Wright praised the excellent centre back partnership of Richard Walker and Steve Foster: "Reading do have some very good players and they had a tremendous win at Sheffield United. They have some dangerous players and Nicky Forster scored a great goal against Sheffield - but our centre-backs are playing well at the moment and they will look forward to the test."

Wrighty has been the subject of media speculation linking him to Leeds United and Fulham following eighteen months worth of solid performances at Gresty Road, and is expected to leave during the January transfer window.

Dario Gradi praised Wright, claiming he "is playing the best football of his career at the moment". Despite this, the boss revealed that thee hasn't been any recent interest in him: "Nobody has been asking about any of our players of late but that isn't something I worry about because there's nothing I can do about it."
