“Dean is probably the most prolific striker we have. He has the most impressive record of goals. That is my main concern at the moment, that we won’t score enough goals. Therefore, I’ve not dismissed the idea of bringing in a prolific goalscorer if we can find one.”
This could mean that he's got his eye on a player and could well make a move. Last season on deadline day when Crewe were struggling to find the back of the net Dario tried to get Neil Mellor on loan from Liverpool. The 19 year old was Liverpool's U-19 top scorer with an amazing 40+ goals but Dario was told to hop it by Phil Thomson because they had injury worries in their front line(but they have 7 strikers!!!!). Could Dario try and persaude Gerard to let Neil come here on loan... after all Ian Rush did say Neil needs to go out on loan to become the next big thing.
The other firm favourite to come to Crewe is Richie Partridge, also of Liverpool but he's not an out and out striker and is only a rumour.Whatever happens... Why doesn't Dario bring in a new striker!? Didn't he and Bowler say there were nearly 800 out of contract players? - surely you can find one out of that if you can't get Mellor!
