Duo unlikely to be risked
Crewe attacking midfielders Brad Inman and Chuks Aneke have returned to training but the npower League One clash against Sheffield United will probably come too soon.
Newcastle loanee Inman suffered an ankle injury during last month's defeat to Hartlepool and Aneke, on loan at Gresty Road from Arsenal, was hindered by tendinitis in his knee, but both players must now build match fitness.
New signing Nathan Ellington will hope to make his debut for the Railwaymen having been an unused substitute when Steve Davis' side overcame Colchester 2-1 at the weekend.
Fellow striker Max Clayton was handed a first start for more than a month against the U's.
Davis has no further injury concerns, although rookie defender Jon Guthrie will miss the rest of this season after undergoing hernia surgery.
Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson could be tempted to make one or two changes.
Wilson has no new injury or suspension problems, but may want to freshen up his line-up following the goalless home draw with MK Dons at the weekend.
On-loan strikers Dominic Poleon and Jonathan Forte are both pushing for recalls after starting on the bench on Saturday.
Forte, on loan from Southampton, had missed the previous four games due to a groin strain and Leeds forward Poleon started on the bench.
Wilson must decide whether to stick with Matt Hill in defence or recall Danny Higginbotham, who was back on the bench at the weekend following illness.
Teenage striker Diego De Girolamo could be out for the rest of the season after damaging his knee last week while playing for Italy Under-18s.
The Blades are looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches in a bid to return to the top of the table.
