24-year-old Kelvin Langmead looks set for talks with Crewe after the Shrewsbury Town striker turned defender is believed to have turned down a new contract at the New Meadow.

Langmead is believed to have been disappointed with the new contract offer with the Salop club and is now believed to be expressing a move to The Railwaymen.

Langmead started his career with Preston North End in which during his two year spell had loans spells at Tamworth, Carlisle United, Kidderminster Harriers and Shrewsbury Town.

After impressing during his spell at Shrewsbury Town he signed for the Shrews in December 2004 where he was used as a striker until previous boss Gary Peters who worked with him at Preston switched the 6ft 1' player into a defender.

The move to defender proved successful for Coventry born player and last season he made 33 appearances and also featured in the 1-0 play-off defeat to Gillingham.

Langmead has made 184 league appearances for the Shrews netting 15 goals.
