Crewe look set to make a move for midfielder Ray Putterill after the club found out that Lee Holmes is sidelined with a hamstring injury, which he picked up last week against Spurs in a reserve match.

Since the departure of David Vaughan to Real Sociedad Crewe have relied upon Eguen Bopp to play out of position and play on the left to with some degree of sucess.

Putterill know as 'Razor' came on as a sub in the pre-season friendly at Gresty Road and the left sided winger scored the third goal as Liverpool won 3-0.

18-year-old Putterill found himself promoted to the first team and was given a squad number of 35 but has yet to feature for Liverpool so far this season and he could find himself out on loan like seven of Liverpool fringe/reserve players.
