In 2002-2003 Crewe played Blackpool three times, twice in the league and once in the LDV Trophy. All three resulted in wins for the Alex, beating them 2-0 in the LDV Trophy - a trophy they held from the previous year and now hold this year - and 3-0 at Gresty Road in a League game. Kenny Lunt's sole goal in April 2003 sent 3,000 Alex fans home from Broomfield Road very happy - as 2 draws and a win would see us promoted!
Last year in the Carling Cup, Crewe beat Wrexham 2-0 in the first round before crashing out at Leicester City to a Dickov penalty in Neil Baker's first caretaker management role.
