Crewe will be without Luke Varney after he dislocated his shoulder in the 1-0 defeat at home to Telford. Varney faces 3 months on the sidelines after being told he needs the operation. In his place will be youngster James Robinson for his 2nd start of his career.

Unless Robinson impress' Dario, the club may move next week to secure the services of Man Utds Eddie Johnson onloan or even go in and try and sign Leek's Paul Hadland, the 22 year old is being watched closely by Dario.

Neil Sorvel has recovered well from his thigh injury and may be in contention for a place on the bench. Allan Smart has also recovered from his ankle knock and, 3 days after being denied a loan move to Oxford, he could also make the bench.

Chris McCready was thought to have recovered from his calf problem but after returning to training he broke down again, he now faces another 3 weeks on the sidelines. Adie Moses and Richard Walker will return to training next week.
